Frequently Asked Questions

SaneClick actions don't show in my Finder right-click menu. What do I do?

First, open SaneClick Settings > General and check the status badge. Library toggles do nothing until it reads Extension Active. If the extension is off, click Manage Finder Extension to open System Settings, then enable SaneClick under Extensions. If the status shows active but menus are missing in one folder, add that folder under Monitored Folders in Settings > General.

What are monitored folders?

SaneClick appears in the folders you choose, such as Desktop, Documents, and Downloads. Finder Recents is a smart view rather than a real folder, so add the folder that actually holds the files. Manage the list in Settings > General > Monitored Folders.

How do I turn actions on or off?

Open the SaneClick main window to browse the action library by category. Use the switch next to each action, or Enable All to turn on a whole category at once. Changes apply to the Finder menu right away — if a menu looks stale, use Refresh in Settings > General.

Can I add my own actions?

Yes. SaneClick runs your own shell and AppleScript actions alongside the built-in library. See the in-app guides and the guides page for how to write actions that take the selected Finder items as input. Risky built-in actions (move, rename, delete) ask before they run; you can turn that confirmation on for any action.

How do I restore my purchase?

On the direct-download build, open Settings > License and enter your license key. On the Mac App Store build, open Settings > License and use Restore Purchase to unlock Pro on the same Apple Account.

What happens when my trial ends?

Finder actions stop until you buy once. Your actions, custom scripts, and settings are kept — nothing is deleted. Open SaneClick and follow the purchase screen, or enter your license key in Settings > License.

How do I report a bug?

The fastest way is inside the app: open Settings > About and click Report a Bug. It attaches diagnostics automatically (extension status, action counts, settings) so most issues can be solved from one report. You can also email [email protected] — include your extension status from Settings > General.

Where is my data stored?

Your actions and settings stay on your Mac — files and script contents are never uploaded. The app sends only privacy-preserving aggregate counts (launches, purchase flow, version) plus update checks and license validation. Details are in the privacy policy. Email [email protected] if you need help finding or resetting local data.
